James Albert's Story

Was a young volunteer in his mid 20's, having worked previously as a moulder. Joined up around 1915, saw action and was wounded in action in the Dardanelles. Following recovery was posted to France where he took part in the battle of the Somme. He was declared missing in action following heavy fighting on 3rd July 1916.

He was one of nine men declared missing following a heavy losses day for the regiment in the area around Fricourt. He died leaving a widow, Rose and three young children, James, Arthur (2), Fred (1).
