Herbin James's Story

My father's memorys to his son.

I was not a hero son, i was just bloody luck to come home.

Being a lead horseman, taking the gun to the front-line, he said" the team of horses took preferance ,i.e when returning with the empty gun carrage horses cam first", also he told me pf sleeping inside a dead horse to keep warm because of such cold conditions.

Men being got by their officers for refusing to fight ( this was classed as cowardise) but to today we knoe the men was suffering from shellshock.

I have his set of 3 first WW1 Medals (Pip, sqeak and wilfred)

also i have the Queen Victoria gift box that was given to the trops at christmas, with a christmas greeting letter.
