David's Story
David William Marrs was my grandfather, he left a wife and two children when he was killed, in Iper on 29th April 1915. Sadly my aunt was taken from my grandmother with influenza the following year.I was lucky enough whilst staying in Brugge a few years ago and having got directions of where his last resting place was beforehand with the help of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission get a train from Brugge to Iper and with the help of the local taxi service found my grandfather's grave and paid my respects on behalf of my siblings who he was never to know. My gt.grandparents were then to loose another son Henry George Marrs two years later he is one of those remembered on the Menine Gate in Iper.
