Leslie's Story
He was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry in the field.
Leslie Beale served in France from January 1915 to June 1916. He was stationed in the UK for a year and went back to France from February 1917 until August 1918. He was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry in the field on 26 June 1918. Leslie sustained five shrapnel wounds to his leg and a gunshot wound to his foot, which shattered his instep. In 1921 he joined the Durham Light Infantry.
