Gwilym's Story

Gwilym James was the youngest son of Edward and Elizabeth James of Coedpoeth, near Wrexham, both of whom predeceased him. He served first in the Denbigh Yeomanry and then in the 11th Cheshires. He landed in France on 31st August 1916 and took up his commission in the RWF on 26 June 1917. He died of wounds in Northern France on 8 October 1918 and is buried in the Rocquigny-Equancourt Road British Cemetery, Manancourt, France.
