I never Knew my grandad Francis as he died long before I was born. Francis enlisted with the Queens Own Royal West Kent Yeomanry on 8-10-1915 before transferring to the Buffs in January 1917. On 5-2-1917 he joined his unit in Alexandria Egypt. Francis was admitted to hospital in Cairo with a gunshot wound to the shoulder at the end of October but recovered to rejoin his unit before finally being demobbed on 1-4-1919.
