Wilfred Claude's Story
Killed in Action France and Flanders 30/7/1915 aged 20.
Wilfred Claude March son of Mary Ann March and Mr E March of 13 Eyot Gardens, Hammersmith, London. Born Mortlake, Surrey and enlisted in Chiswick, Middx.
He served as a Rifleman R/11224 in the 9th Btn KRRC.
Wilfred sent a photo of himself dressed proudly in his Military Unifirm and wrote " To Dear Mother from Wilfred May 1915" Wilfred was killed in action less than two months later. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres. Panel 51 and 53.
His 1914/15 Star, Victory and War Medals including his Bronze Memorial Plaque are proudly looked after.
