Robert's Story

This gentleman was my grandfather who in WW1 was with the Northumberland Fusiliers and then with the Royal Fusiliers on the Somme. He took supplies on the backs of mules to the troops, they struggled through mud that was so deep that one of the mules fell onto him and he hurt his back but carried on until he was discharged in 1919.

This story was told to me by my father (his son) about his time in Belgium.
