Elsie's Story

A brave, courageous, Lady Elsie Fenwick, my great aunt, and sister-in-law to Capt Norman Orr Ewing whose exploits in WW1 are on the Remembrance Wall - Elsie served with the Red Cross in Flanders. She initially began as a probationer at La Panne in 1915. By the end of the war in 1918, Elsie was the Head Sister on a surgical ward containing 80 beds. She wrote a book of her experiences entitled 'Elsie Fenwick in Flanders'.
