Harry's Story
I never knew my Great Uncle, who like a lot of my family joined the colours to fight for our country. He served with the 1st Battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales Own).
He was killed in action on Friday, October 23rd 1914, Iguess he was a regular by being at the front so early in the war.
Harry was one of three brothers from the Pemberton family of Kirkstall, Leeds who was killed in action, his other two brothers were killed in 1918, Sydney in the last week of the war, so here we have two brothers one killed at the start of the conflict and one at the end.
