Thomas Charles's Story
My grandfather's eldest brother joined up in 1914 and fought at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd battles of Ypres. Awarded the MM in July 1915 for an as yet unidentified act of bravery.
Killed on 07/11/1918 and now buried, along with 13 comrades, in the village cemetry of St-Remy-Chaussee. a village in the Department of the Nord, 4 kilometres south-east of Auloyne-Aymeries.
Since locating his final resting place, with the help of the CWGC, we have made several visits and we are even considering buying a second home near where he lies as it's such a beautiful spot.
My only regret is that we were unable to take my grandfather, his last surviving sibling, before he passed away in 2007. Final resting place located after 84 years. Not to be forgotten again.
