David's Story

Great Uncle David Hyatt served with the North Staffodshire Regt based in Whittington Barracks in Lichfield. His Army rank and number were Private D Hyatt 8652.

He served in the first world war until he was wounded at the battle in Mons France.

Discharged from the Army on 9th November 1915 due to a Gunshot wound to the Head. Awarded the War Badge and pension for life due to 100% permanent disability.

David died age 40 due to the Head Gunshot Wounds on the 29th April 1929 his death certificate named Jacksonian Epileptic Seizure.

David was married and had three children. Two sons accidentally drowned in the river Wensum at Newton St Faiths near to Norwich just after he died 22nd July 1929.
