Thomas Boswell's Story

Private Thomas Boswell Beattie (The Kings, Liverpool Regiment, 20th Btn) died age 21 on the 10 July 1916 at the Battle of the Somme which had begun 1 July 1916 only 9 days prior to his death. Thomas' name is inscribed on the Memorial to the Dead at Thiepval, France.

Thomas was the second of four children. His younger and only brother, Able Seaman George Beattie (Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve), was also a casualty of WW1 having died age 17 on board HMS Viknor on 13 January 1915.
