Charles's Story

Charles Willox my great uncle was 4326 Pte Charles Willox of the 1st/7th battalion Gordon Highlanders, he was injured 13/11/1916 and died of his wounds 20/11/1916. He is buried in grave reference XX.A.15 Etaples France.

Charles was the son of Charles and Jane Willox and he was born at Minnes Foveran Aberdeenshire, he had one brother and three sisters. His sister Barbara being my Grandmother, he had a cousin called Charles Robert Willox who was S/43090 Pte Charles Robert Willox of the 2nd Battalion Gordon Highlanders who was killed 5th September 1916 and he is commemerated on the Thiepval Memorial.
