Reginald's Story
Killed in action, nine days after leaving home
Second-Liet. Reginald Pryce Jones son of Mr Pryce Jones of Heeley Bank Council Schools, Sheffield, where he received his early ducation. He obtained an exhibition to the Central Secondary Schools, from which he proceeded to Whiteley's Business Collage for a commercial training. He then obtained an appointment in the office of Messrs. Daniel Doncaster amd Sons. Joining a local battalion of the York and Lancaster Regiment upon its formation, he saw service in Egypt and France, and was wounded just before the opening of the offensive on the Somme. On his recovery he was sent to camp for training for his commission, and finnished his cadet course with distinction. He was gazetted to his old regiment, the York and Lancs., and left Sheffield for the front on Oct10th 1917. He was killed in France 9 days later.
