Douglas Simpson's Story

Douglas was killed in action on 20 October 1916.

Second lieutenant Douglas Simpson Porteous, A Company, 6th Battalion, was killed in action on 20 October 1916. My grandmother was born just days before her uncle's death and received a letter from his fiancée, blessing her safe arrival and expressing how much her uncle would have loved to have met her. It was a letter she always treasured.
