Archibald's Story

My uncle was killed before I was born. The bronze plaque and certificate recording his death were kept on display in my grantparents' house. They passed to my father and then to me. Archie was killed in the action at the Boar's Head in 1916 and was buried at Richebourg. After the war he was reburied, together with many of his comrades, at Cabaret Rouge, Souchez. Until I took my father to see his grave in 1975 no member of the family, so far as I am aware, had ever visited it. Since then I have been there many times.
