Alexander David's Story
Alec was the adopted son of my great grandfather's sister, and was engaged to my grandfather's sister Ellen Reason. A rough riding instructor in126 Battery, 29th Brigade, 4th Division Royal Field Artillery, he was killed on May 21st 1915 by shrapnel from an exploding shell. He is buried at Bailleul in Northern France. His death affected his fiancee so much that she remained a spinster for the rest of her life.
