George's Story

He was a Private in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. From our own research we know he entered France on the 26/05/1915 and that he died of wounds 16/08/1917. We know through the passing down of the story through the family that he died because his gun backfired. His regemental number was 17724.

Like many others he was awarded the Tom Dick and Harry set of medals. (Victory, the british and the 1915 star).
