Soldier Record

I am the son of Emmanuel BleaseÂ’s youngest daughter Elsie (now deceased). I have researched my grandfather's military records. Emmanuel first served in the 1st Battalion Cheshire Regiment for eight years, rejoining the regiment in 1914 at the beginning of World War I. He enrolled in Macclesfield, but was living with his wife Hannah and seven children in Twemblow Place, Congleton. He was serving in France and was wounded three times during his active service in and around Ypres. Among his many medals he was awarded the Military Medal, (quoted in The London Gazette), but I cannot find out if he was awarded this for gallantry. When he died on 17 October 1917, just a few months before the war ended, he left behind seven children. His wife Hannah had died previously of tuberculosis in a Chester hospital.

He was wounded three times during his active service.

I have his full military history and a large photo of him in uniform passed to me by my mother, but I have knowledge of who has his medals. He is buried in Menin Road, Ypres. I have visited his grave twice and intend to return with my son and grandson. I would dearly love to find out what he was awarded his MM for and am interested in purchasing his medals if anyone has any knowledge of where they are.
