William Edwin's Story

William Edwin Elkington was my Grandmother's brother. He was born in the village of Barby, Northamptonshire in November 1892. He was 2nd of 11 children born to John Charles Elkington and his wife Letty (nee Roberts), but was the eldest surviving child.

On joining up he was posted to the Somme region of France as a Driver in "C" Battery, 78th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery.

He died on 17 June 1916 and was buried in the Norfolk Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt, near Albert.
