Ernest Howard's Story
Uncle Tim as he was known was my great uncle he served in 11th Bn London Regiment (Finsbury Rifles) and was killed in Gallipoli on 17th August 1915. His regimental number was 1779 and he is commemorated on the Helles Memorial in Turkey. He was a sniper and I understand he was himslef killed by a sniper bullet. Hss brother Ricjard Walter Hancock (No. 1842/450294) served in the same regiment he was born in 1897 and survived the war.
