Ernest's Story
Son of David and Elizabeth Tasker, of Post Office Row, Rawcliffe. Fell in action on 11th October, 1916, two weeks before his 20th birthday. Went to Goole Secondary School. Worked in the Railway Offices at Goole. Scoutmaster of the 1st Rawcliffe Troop, and had he lived another fortnight would have reached his 20th birthday. It seems unusual that someone from a Yorkshire village should be in a Scottish regiment. There were memories in the village of him coming home on leave in his Scottish uniform.
