Harold Charles's Story
Lance Corporal Harold Charles Anslow of the 98th Light Railway Train Crew Company died on 31st December 1917 when his transport ship, SS Aragon was torpedoed by a German submarine just outside Alexandria. The Aragon had tried to dock in the harbour but there were no berths available so she was ordered to go back out, where she was attacked by sub UC34. He was one of 610 men to lose their lives.
Harold was the eldest son of Charles & Helena Anslow of Wolverhampton and left behind 4 siblings and his wife Amy. He was aged only 24.
