Cecil's Story

I remember sundays in the early sixties when Granddad and "nanna" Sarah came for tea we had salmon and cucumber sandwiches and tinned fruit jelly and carnation milk with bread and butter (to fill up with) and Granddad always brought seasonal fruit and veg from his allottment. Nanna made the best custard tarts ever.

A dapper but slightly built man always smartly dressed

A hard working dapper man who had a very well tended allottment

My grandfather was an engineer in Leicester and died of cancer in 1968 he used to go the Belgrave conservative club to meet fellow workers and lived in Macdonald Rd Belgrave Leicester. I wish i had spent more time talking to him but he never mentioned his time in WW1 and those memories are now gone forever.
