John's Story
Marriage of John Shearer to Maria Campbell in Glasgow, August 1917. Maria's sister Bessie is her bridesmaid. She has black lace over her dress in mourning for their brother who had just been killed in France.
Seven months later, on 15th April 1918, John died of his wounds in France aged 26 years.
His brother William had been killed there in 1916.
John & William Shearer was my wife's paternal Grandmother's brothers, ie my wife's Great Uncles.
