Albert Edward's Story

Albert Edward Denton was born in Scotswood Lemington Newcastle Northumberland in 1897, son of Jane Gray and Thomas Denton. Albert joined the 13th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers formed in Newcastle in September 1914, the battalion joined the 21st division in Tring Hertfordshire before crossing to France on September 13th 1915, the battalion served on the Western Front and the Somme Region taking part in the Somme offensive from the 1st July 1916 to the 18th November 1916.

Albert was killed in action during the first phase of the battle of the Somme on November 6th 1916.

He is buried at Vermelles British War Cemetery near Lens the Somme France he was just aged 19.
