Walter Samuel's Story

He died of his wounds on 6th June 1915,aged 24 years and was buried at sea

We only discovered our great uncle Walter 3 years ago. Walter was born and lived in Twickenham. In 1914 he enlisted at Hounslow into the 2nd Battalion Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment), no:14260. He landed at Gallipoli on 25th April 1915. He died of his wounds on 6th June 1915,aged 24 years and was buried at sea. His name is on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli peninsula,Turkey and on the War Memorial at Holy Trinity Church, Twickenham Green.
