Archiebald's Story

Archie Downie was husband to Cissie Downie who lived to her late nineties. He was father to Archie Downie who died in 2006. My father never met his own father and he carried his loss throughout his life. Dad served in North Africa and in Italy. Big Arch was grandfather to six grandsons and great grandfather to many. Little is known of his life save that he was a Porter at Liverpool docks and the comedy part of a Music Hall double act. He served and died in the Machine Gun Corps he died on the 21/3/1918 and has no known grave.
