Benjamin's Story

Ben is my wife's Great Uncle, who served from 1914-1916.

Ben, along with his Brother, and Cousin served with the 2nd Bn DLI, in France during the Great War. Ben's Cousin and brother returned, however, Ben still remains at rest in a field not far from Trones Wood. His Bn at the time took part in an offensive during the battle for the le Transloy Ridges where he lost his life. He fell aged 33 and his name is displayed on the Theapval Memorial today. May he rest in peace and forever be in our thoughts.
