John's Story

My dear Grandfather who served in the 1st World War including I believe The Somme. He was wounded at some stage although I'm not sure of the details. He worked in Blairhall Colliery, Fife in later years before moving to Falkirk where he lived contentedly until the age of 86. He often told me as a boy how lucky I was to have been born in Great Britain which he called the greatest country in the world.
