Rowland's Story

He was killed in action on 9 April 1917.

My great-uncle, Lance Corporal Rowland Murphy, enlisted on 2 November 1915, age 20 years. He served in the 8th Battalion of the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment No 21448. He earned two medals: the Victory Medal and the British War Medal. He was killed in action on 9 April 1917 and is buried in the Tilloy British Cemetery at Tilloy-les-Mofflaines, France. So brave, so sad.
