William's Story

My grandad died when my mother was only young she was born 1940 under the stairs as the sirens were sounding in a war that should never have happened because 1914-1918 was suposed to be the War to end all Wars. She and her sisters had a hard time my grandad had been honourably discharged on the 4th October 1919. He had been gassed his lungs very seriously damaged and found it difficult to find work.

He told my Mom that he had fought against the Turks and the Germans. We had photos of him in Egypt, etc, but they have been lost over the years I have his medals and a few items of his I would love to find his unit or any other info if anyone can help me.

If only I had some memories.
