William's Story

William Lantaff Houghton was my paternal grandfather. Before the war, he lived in Islington with his wife, Mary Ann and they had three children, George, born 1907, Rose 1909 and Arthur born in 1915. William was a milkman. I don't know when he joined the 18th Lancashire Fusiliers, but he was killed on 22nd October 1917, and his name is on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
