John Benedict's Story

John joined the army in January 1916, going over to France in June 1916. He was injured during the fighting of 25 September 1916 and transferred to the field hospital at Rouen, sadly he died of his injuries on 11 October 1916 and was laid to rest at the St Server Cemetry, Rouen.

His family heard of his death on the same day as they received a letter from John saying he was getting better and hoping to return home.
