Albert Victor's Story
Albert Victor Hards did not have a particularly happy life. He was the 5th of 7 children, his father died when he was 10, and at that time the family income was just 16 old shillings per week - half of which was contributed by my grandfather. A few weeks after his mother was widowed, Albert Victor was admitted to Christs Hospital School, where he was educated for 5 years. I don't know what he did between 1902 and when he went to war.
Died aged 28
My father was born in 1917, just over a year after his uncle was killed. He was named after his "Uncle Albert". That's all I know.
