George's Story

Enlisted 1914. France 1915. Vimy, Arras, as a Pioneer dug trenches and graves. Wounded 1916 by shellfire. Sapper- tunnel work on Lochnagar mining. Married while convalescing 1917 at Uxbridge.Address Neward Mil Hosp. Returned to duty. Mesopotamia 1917. France 1918. Not allowed to be discharged until 1921 because he enlisted and was not conscripted or recruited for service abroad. Built POW camps in France and Egypt. No 4877.
