Albert's Story

On the day he died (13/06/76) I remember my Grandfather telling , while watching the Trooping of the Colour, that he remembered being on parade on Salisbury Plain when the King came to review the troops. His RSM said afterwards 'Not bad lads, I have seen the guards do worse'

My grandfather served during the Battle of the Somme and was of the fortunate ones to live to tell the tale.

There was a friendly rivalry between both my Grandfathers, because one served in the infantry and the other in the artillery.
