Albert's Story
Albert was in the 1914 - 1918 war and served in the Army. He was in the 2/5th Btn, enlisted Rotherham, lived Treeton, Yorkshire. 241698 Pte killed in action France & Flanders, 27/11/1917. 241698 Pte Albert Naylor, 2/5th Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment, who was killed in action on 27th November, 1917 during the Battle of Cambrai is commemorated with others of his regiment on Panels 9 and 10 on the Cambrai Memorial, which is situated just south of the village of Louverval on the north side of the road. Louverval is 24km south-east of Arras and 14.5km south-west of Cambrai. His remains were never found - hence the memorial. The memorial register contains no further details of next of kin etc. The battle of Cambrai was the first time in history when tanks fought each other in battle.
