Harold's Story
He seldom mentioned his war experiences, except once or twice his regiment, the Worcestershires, and the Italian Front. His discharge papers show he enlisted 30 July 1916 in Plymouth, and was drafted to the 1/7th, a Territorial Force Battalion. Their War Diaries show they were in the Somme area in early 1917, went to Flanders for 3rd Ypres, back to the Arras area, and then to Italy in Autumn 1917. He did mention an epic march, and the record shows the unit actually advanced into Austria shortly before the Armistice. He was medically discharged in 1919.
