Stanley's Story
On 1 July 1916 he was stationed on the line between Maricourt and Mametz. On 26 September 1916 he was killed.
My uncle, Stanley Amos Stannard, 43234, who I never knew, served with the 6th Battalion of the Northants Regiment. On 1 July 1916 he was stationed on the line between Maricourt and Mametz. On 26 September 1916 he was killed. Stanley was buried in Serre Road Cemetery No 2, some 4km from Thiepval and his grave is between those of a Soldier of the Great War and Private E Braunston 14848, also of the Northants Regiment.
