Tom's Story
Private 21221 Tom Woods was caught in a Chlorine gas attack at Ypres 1915 having survived the attack suffered a slow lingering death, finding breathing difficult caused by the damage to his lungs.Was discharged from the army on medical grounds. He finally succumbed to his condition at home in Ancoats Manchester on 22nd February 1918.
His name was recorded on the memorial at Phillips Park cemetry manchester which recently had the memorial plaques removed by theives.
