Albert's Story

He was determined to get to the front as quickly as possible.

Albert Edward Harston, my great-uncle, joined up with the Barnsley Pals. He was determined to get to the front as quickly as possible and transferred to the Northumberland Fusiliers. He died April 1917 - I understand that he died before the Pals were sent to the front. He was known as 'Chammy' to his family.
