Herbert's Story

Dad served his country in the Royal Flying Corp at the age of 17yrs.

His entry to the Royal Flying Corp was on the 15th June 1917. Later to the RAF on the 1st April 1918.

He was a gunner flying DH 90's, 9691, E9922, DH 121 and DH 107's.

He flew with F/O Locke, Burke, Battle, Cripps, Maclean, Barrett, Bladon and F.Lt Smart.

He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in 1921 for operations with the Iraq Group of the RAF in 1920.
