Robert's Story
He was my grand father. He died on the 2 June 1916 leaving a widow and two young boys with another baby on the way. We seem to have lost a photo of him but have his medal. He had volunteered for the army. My father was born in 1913 and did not really remember his father. My grandmother had a real struggle bringing up 3 boys without a father and died in 1965
He has no known grave but his name is on the Menin Gate which I hope to visit one day
