Ellis's Story
A family man "Doing his Duty".
From his war diary, perhaps not attuned to what was to come in his life. aware that others were dying, but not going to happen to him.

Ellis left England sometime in the early 1900's to go to Canada, probably for a better life. His job in England was in the cotton industry. While in Montreal, Ellis was conscripted into the Canadian Expeditionary Force on the 29th January 1916 he then became Yates E. 841297, 42nd. Btn. Canadian Infantry, (Quebec Regiment).
Ellis died at Vimy Ridge aged 29 on 9th. April 1917.
Ellis is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial and also at the cenotaph in Denton nr. Manchester.
