Jason's Story
He was renowned for chasing across Tottenham Marshes with a pitchfork in his hand when a German pilot bailed out of his plane.
Jason Oliver served in the Boer War as well as World War I. He fathered 11 children and was stepfather of one. My mother Peggy was his youngest daughter. Locally he was known as Snowy on account of his full head of white hair. He was loved and revered by all his grandchildren and was renowned for chasing across Tottenham Marshes with a pitchfork in his hand when a German pilot bailed out of his plane. At that time, Jason's son George was missing presumed dead but he was in fact a prisoner of war. It was fortunate for the pilot that he landed on the other side of the River Lea.
