James Patrick's Story
He fought in France and survived the war.
My grandfather's cousin, Private/Lance Corporal/Acting Corporal James McLinden, was born in Liverpool in 1896, one of about 13 children. His parents, Patrick, a railway worker, and Agnes, moved their family to Bolton in the early 1900s. James worked as a telegraph clerk for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway before joining the 4/5 Loyal North Lancashire Regiment in 1915. He fought in France and survived the war.
