George Henry's Story
Grandad enlisted into the Worcester Regiment 1909 after losing his Father 1905 and his Mother 1908. During WW1 he served 4 years in Ahmednagar,India and Jahnsi British posts. He served in Belgium and received war wounds at the Somme. With bullet wounds to limbs and head he was discharged as medically unfit. George married in 1917 in the Black Country although he had been born and raised in Aston, Birmingham.
Three of his siblings had been sent to Canada as home children, his oldest sister had died and 4 other siblings he never saw again despite a search for many years.
