George Randolph's Story
George Ravenscroft was my Grandad who fought in WWI. He was in the Border Regiment and served from 1914-1918. He fought in the Battle of the Somme and at some point was buried alive with mustard gas and was shot in the head and managed to survive! He never really spoke to anyone about his experiences in the war but did mention that whilst nursing an injured arm at the side of a road n France he saw a group of British Soldiers march a group of German captured soldiers into a forest. He later heard gunshots.
